Acer Goes 3D With Its Latest Aspire 5738DG-6165 Notebook

London, Jan 13 (PRINTWORDS NEWS) -Acer Aspire 5738DG-6165Acer is known for making some affordable mid and high range laptops among the computer users. It’s Extensa and Travelmate series of laptops are quite popular with business and home users. Recently, the company has launched a laptop named Aspire 5738DG-6165 that boasts of an impressive feature- a 3D panel. This is quite a novelty among present generation laptops. However, it needs to be seen whether this feature is of any real value to the end user or simply a marketing technique.

To add the third dimension, Acer has used polarized lenses in the laptop and its bundled Tridef software delivers reasonably good 3D visual effect. The software is capable of adding depth to regular DVD movies and one can play them in the internal optical drive of the laptop. Besides, the 3D effect looks decent on any video files stored on the hard disc. The AVI and WMV clips are better suited for the 3D effect. The integrated photo viewer of the software adds depth to still images as well.

Gaming in 3D also looks splendid and it will be appreciated by the seasoned gamers. Generally FPS and strategy games look great in 3D but the games based on the source engine of Valve such as Portal and Half Life 2 suit it the best. Apart from the much touted 3D view, the laptop has regular features seen in other models these days. Its 15.6 inch screen is bright and in 2D mode produces bright colors and sharp images. The laptop is powered by an Intel C2D CPU running at 2.2 GHz. It is well complemented by a roomy 320 GB hard drive and 4GB RAM. To boost the graphic performance Acer has used an ATi Radeon graphics chip.
