AUG 06 (PRINTWORDS NEWS)
Abhay Deol is not your everyday actor who likes working in commercial potboilers and suger sweet romantic sagas. After making his debut in Bollywood he has steered clear of the traditional path. With the award-winning Dev D and critically acclaimed Road: Movie in his kitty he is going mainstream for the first time with the much anticipated Aisha. The movie has released everywhere in India today and the initial reviews are largely positive. Based on the celebrated Jane Austen novel Emma , Aisha revolves around the life of the protagonist played by Sonam Kapoor. However, Abhay Deol has given a commendable performance in the film.
Aisha is a frothy urban comedy that is likely to strike a chord with the urban youth. The actor is hoping that the movie gets liked by the young viewers. He remains unfazed by the questions a section of media raised about the film. He said that he got along really well with Sonam Kapoor but there is nothing more to read into their professional rapport on screen and chemistry. He also played down the fact that in the film he shares a passionate kissing seen with her co actor. The actor said that it was not meant for titillating the viewers but was an integral part of the script.
Aisha is out in theaters now and the actor is going to focus on completing his upcoming film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara where he shares screen space with Bollywood hottie Hrithik Roshan. He is also getting some other meaty offers.
