London, Dec. 28, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) It is quite surprising that a man who has grown up in a healthy environment and has received all types of comfort in life would turn out to be a terrorist. However, the recent reports related to the Nigerian terrorist, Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab, revealed that he had grown up in a healthy environment and never faced any situation that could account for his terrorist inclinations. As per the reports, Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab, the alleged Nigerian terrorist, who had recently made an attempt to blast Northwest Airlines flight 253 in Detroit had received education in Britain. His teachers were shocked to know that he has become a terrorist and has received training from the Al-Qaeda base camp in Yemen.
The teachers considered him as a good student who came from a well-to-do family. Michael Rimmer, one of the teachers of this alleged Nigerian terrorist considered him to be a bright and polite person. He said that they had nicknamed him as “The Pope – because he was so pious and high-minded”. Not only Michael Rimmer but also the other teachers considered him to be a bright student and many believed that he had every quality to become the president of his country. While recalling several positive qualities of Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab, his teacher did not forget to mention his negative aspects. Michael Rimmer said that Umar, since his student life was a sympathizer of Taliban people, who were fighting in Afghanistan.
According to the reports, the Nigerian student possessed high religious views from his student life and was often found to preach fellow students. The strong religious beliefs and sympathies for the Taliban might have attracted him toward the Al-Qaeda. Whatever be the reason that motivated a bright student to become a terror suspect, the news has been quite disappointing for the teachers who held high hopes about him.
Not only the teachers but also father of the suspected Nigerian terrorist was worried about the extreme religious views of his son. Aljahi Umaru Mutallab, a banker and a respected Nigerian citizen, has alerted the US officials about his son’s extreme religious views. Though he tried to stop his son from committing any act of treason, he could not stop Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab from participating in a terror attack. However, the brave act of some passengers have thwarted him in his blast attempt. He has been taken into police custody and more reports about him are expected to surface with the progress of the investigation.
