London, Dec 28 (PRINTWORDS NEWS) - There are plenty of wireless routers in the market these days but bundled storage is not offered with these devices in general. If you are looking for a speedy wireless n router with oodles of storage the latest Time Capsule offered by Apple is a good option. Like most Apple products this device looks sleek and offer portable connectivity without the mess of wires. On first look it may appear like a larger sibling of the Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station. It is svelte compared with industry standard NAS servers. The pristine white boy with carved looks is sure to turn the heads at the office the moment you unpack the device.

If you have used Macbooks or iMacs earlier you will appreciate the minimalistic design and antenna less body of the Time Capsule. The back of the device has three Gigabit Ethernet ports. The USB port can be used for connecting a printer. The front side of the router has a light that indicates its status. If the device works perfectly the light remains green or else it flashes amber. Since it lacks an internet interfacer you will need to install the bundled AirPort Utility software to get it working.

It is compatible with both Windows and Mac. However, Windows based systems will require Bonjour to work with this device. The wizard included in AirPort Utility helps the first time users to work with this device and makes up for the dearth of a web interface. It has a step by step configuration procedure. However, whenever you make a change in its settings the Time Capsule will ask to restart. This can be a headache for some users.

Similar to the base station, this Apple device can support 50 clients simultaneously. It lags in the networking features department to an extent. If you are finicky about the security of your network you will find models like Linksys WRT610N or D-Link Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router DIR-825 more capable. They offer features like dynamic DNS, port triggering and web site filter. The Time Capsule does not have these facilities. However, it makes up for its shortcomings to an extent by offering wireless-n signal in both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies. The inbuilt storage makes it a good option for users who need to back up data regularly. However, the steep price tag of £380 can act as a deterrent.
