Mar 21, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) Sahil Saeed, the five year old British boy who was abducted in Pakistan while on a holiday, has returned to his family in Britain after being released by the kidnappers on Tuesday. A flight carrying the young boy and his father Raja Naqqash Saeed arrived at the Manchester airport on Thursday night from the Pakistani city of Islamabad. They arrived in their family home in Oldham later where the five year old was reunited with his mother, Akila for the first time since his abduction. Celebrations were in full bloom at the Saeed residence with fireworks being let off as a house full of family and friends welcomed young Sahil.
Although the five year old appeared to be completely unaware of the festivity surrounding him, he looked visibly delighted to be in the company of his near and dear ones especially after the appalling ordeal that he had to go through. The five year old had been abducted from his grandmother’s home in Jhelum earlier this month by an armed group just as he was about to fly back to Britain with his father. Sahil was held captive for about 13 days prior to his release on Tuesday when he was discovered wandering in field at a distance of 15 miles with his hair chopped off although otherwise he was unharmed.
Following Sahil’s reunion with his family, details have surfaced about the extensive process that was undertaken to secure his release. Although the boy hailed from Britain and was kidnapped in the Pakistani soil, the abduction network which was supposedly instrumental in carrying out the heinous crime interestingly stretched across continents. It has been confirmed that a hefty ransom was paid to secure the release of the five year old boy and the money was handed over to the kidnappers in Paris. As of now, five people have been taken into custody in connection with the case with three of them detained in the town of Connecticut in Spain’s Catalonia region which also includes two of the suspects who had collected the ransom. The other two arrests have been made in the French capital with authorities reiterating that the operation to nab the culprits is still on.
Meanwhile, latest revelations point out that the abduction plan might have been masterminded in Britain as reportedly the Pakistani police have traced a phone call made to the Sahil’s father to a British number. After the ransom was paid, Mr. Saeed received a call informing him that his son had been released in a Pakistani village where local residents had found him. While monitoring the phone calls made by the abductors, police authorities discovered that the phone call was in fact made from United Kingdom. The recent disclosure suggests that the entire abduction scheme might have been conceived in Britain by someone who had a clear idea about the movements as well as the financial condition of the Saeed family.
Despite the fact that the nightmare for Sahil and his family is finally over, authorities are striving to link the lose ends of the sinister criminal network that spans across continents from Pakistan to parts of Europe.
