In a brand new initiative to reach out to its wide array of customers, luxury goods group Burberry is all set to launch its very own social networking website, ultimately joining the bandwagon of retailers who are using this new platform to give an impetus to their respective brands. The site artofthetrench.com is an attempt by the luxury fashion house to celebrate its legendary trench coat which have become the brands trademark.
The online portal has been launched in collaboration with the popular social networking site Facebook and would be accessible through the site. The website of the celebrated fashion house would be non-commercial in nature and at the same time it would provide fashion freaks all across the world the unique opportunity to share pictures and stories relating to their popular trench coats. This new venture is being seen as a forum which would go a long way in accentuating the interaction between Burberry and its followers spanning across the internet. The site would also include profiles, photo libraries as well as an archive section which would provide a historical background of the signature wear.
However, it remains to be seen whether this fresh initiative would strike a chord with internet users given the fact that there are a variety of fashion portals on the internet and they have so many options to choose from. At the same time, the creative director of Burberry, Christopher Bailey has emphasized that fans of the brand would surely relate to the emotional aspects of the iconic trenchcoat and at the same time would uphold the culture and image of the brand.
