So what is ‘Moonbase Alpha’? According to representatives from NASA, it is a multi-player game which will be played in a 3-dimensional world. This game which spans a length of twenty minutes, shows an astronaut trying to restore normalcy at a site which has just been hit by a meteor attack as a result of which the life on this site has almost been crippled. The player of ‘Moonbase Alpha’ will have to make use of the resources made available to him, while he is trying to make the robots, rovers and other repair tools work to fulfil his mission. The game is set in a hypothetical lunar outpost, and thus the name of Moonbase. Only if the player makes a complete and effective use of the control devices that are in his hands can he or rather his astronaut restore normal conditions on the meteor affected site.

‘Moonbase Alpha’ is the first of the two commercial games to be released by NASA this year. It has been developed by the scientists along with help from famed commercial game developers Virtual Heros and ARMY Game Studio.

Leslie Van Houten on Tuesday apologized in front of the parole board by saying that she deeply regrets the act she had years back. In her statement she mentioned that she has grown insight into the crime that was committed and apologizes for the pains that she inflicted on the La Bianca family. She also gave a personal apology to the family. However, all that seemed to make hardly any impression on the family members that lost two of its members. One of the family members of the La Bianca family read a statement in which he mentioned that the family still suffers from the pain inflicted by the “Family” and Leslie Van Houten and that she should have been executed for the crime. He also added that she should not be released from the prison.

The new lawyer of Leslie Van Houten too failed to forward the case any further. The decision that was read out by Robert praised Leslie’s prison behavior but said that “She does not look at herself to see what made her capable of this activity”. Both maintained that Leslie is still in need of counseling.

NATO Troops In Afghanistan

JULY 7, (PRINTWORDS NEWS)- Afghan officials have declared that a sudden NATO airstrike has mistakenly killed five Afghan soldiers. Reportedly, the officials said that the soldiers were on patrol in the eastern province of Ghazni when the NATO aircraft started firing at them. Zahir Azimi who happens to be the Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman informed that besides the five soldiers who were killed two more soldiers were injured in the attack. He also pointed out that it is not the first time that the NATO troops have “mistakenly” killed the Afghan soldiers.

NATO spokesman General Josef Blotz have expressed deep regret at the incident and have issued orders for a detailed investigation on the case. On the other hand, English troops are now being withdrawn in the southern region of Afghanistan and shall handover the entire control of the district to United States. Britain has already declared that it shall withdraw a total of 1,000 soldiers from the Sangin district of Helmand province. They shall be replaced by the U.S. forces that have outnumbered them in Afghanistan. Already a total of 312 British soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan.

However, the British Ministry of Defense has refused to make any comment on the substitution. British Defense Secretary Liam Fox shall announce her decision to replace the British troops in Afghanistan on Wednesday. NATO also informed that four of their service members were killed in the attacks in Afghanistan. It was mentioned in the official report that a total of three troops were killed in the southern region while the fourth troop was killed in the eastern part.

A strike was called by a religious alliance to condemn the heinous attack and also to pay respect to those who lost their lives. In some areas in the tense city the angry protesters forced some unwilling shop owners to shut their shops to show solidarity to the victims of the blast. The major markets in Karachi wee also shut for this reason. In several cities of Pakistan angry protesters took to streets and demanded that the government should take stricter steps to ensure that the culprits get nabbed. New Orleans, Louisiana, July 1, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) As Hurricane Alex, the first hurricane of the season, downgraded to the category 2 storm, it struck parts of the Texas-Mexico border with torrential rain and heavy winds on Thursday. Flooded streets, ripped off roofs became a common sight in parts of Mexico with thousands of people fleeing the coastal areas to avoid nature’s fury. The extensive storm triggered massive waves that has posed a major hurdle to the oil spill clean up process along the Gulf of Mexico.

A relatively sparsely populated coast along the northern state of Tamaulipas was massively hit by the storm while heavy rains and winds lashed fishing villages along the coast. San Fernando’s Civil Protection and Fire Department official Abel Ramirez has revealed that five fishing villages which are inhabited by as many as 5,000 people has been evacuated and residents have been shifted to safer locations. The official further noted that given the presence of strong north winds, it would be too early to say whether the hurricane has passed the region completely.

Although Hurricane Alex has hit areas far away from the region worst effected by the BP oil spill, experts have reiterated that the booming and the cleaning operations is likely to be terminated due to the high waves whipped up by the storm. However, the attempts to plug the leak by drilling relief wells has however not been hampered by the torrential rains and storms.

Weather officials have stated that the hurricane season this year is going to be worst since the year 2005 when the successive Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma caused mayhem in the Gulf Coast by destroying oil rigs and refineries while reducing production significantly.
