London, Nov.22, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) – The annual conference of the Girls’ Schools Association is expected to bring some changes in the opinions of the feminist advocates, who consider both beauty and intelligence cannot be possessed by a single lady. Girls’ Schools Association’s president, Jill Berry considers that attractive girls can be quite intelligent as these qualities are not “mutually exclusive” and can be possessed by the same person. She commented on the fashion consciousness of the girls after some students of the Cambridge University posed in their inner-wears for the student website and the photo shoot received negative comments. Mrs. Berry too considered the photographs to be distasteful to some extent but, she said that those photographs itself should not be the tool for judging all women. Every woman has her individual fashion sense and judging everyone based on those photographs would be wrong. Mrs. Berry also talked about her personal choice for dresses and shoes in the conference to support the fact that fashion consciousness does not make a person shallow.
Jill Berry in the conference not only talked about the fashion consciousness of women but also talked about the lifestyle and education of women. She rightly considers, that every woman has individual choices and preferences and so she has the right to select her lifestyle accordingly. According to her, a woman who decides to be a home maker and raise up her kids, rather than opting to become a successful professional should not feel guilty for the choice she made. If their family is the first priority for them then they have all the right in the world to opt for being a homemaker and that too in spite of having a good educational background. With her words, she tried to built confidence among all girls of the society so that they could form ‘a positive self-image’ of themselves and take up any challenges in their life.
As the objective of Mrs. Berry’s speech was to give the women-kind a better life, she also highlighted on the possible threats about which all girls should have proper information. As many parents are worried about the addiction of their daughters toward the social networking sites, she referred ‘cyber bullying’ to be one of the biggest concerns of all parents. To cope up with this problem, most of the schools have started helping in making parents aware of the cyber crimes and providing them with advise regarding internet security so that young girls do not make a mistake by providing their personal information to a stranger who can later create problems for her. According to her, “we do have to educate girls” so that they are protected from all dangers. She also said that protecting a person from possible threats is not possible without making them aware of the threat. Before this press conference she has already given her opinions on issues like sex and relationships as well as WAGS.
