Both the teams are coming from convincing wins and look in terrific form. Also to be kept in mind is that the two teams had a brawl the last time that they met in the World Cup in 2006 and it was at the exact same stage.

Germany are in high spirits after crushing the English side 4-1 and will look to continue the momentum. For Argentina the 3-1 win against Mexico have given them the confidence they need to reach the finals. though the teams can be called evenly matched they have somewhat different styles of play. The Argentinian coach Diego Maradona said that he was aware of the difference between Germany and Mexico and was hoping to filed the right players to beat them. In-form striker Carlos Tevez however chose to play mind games against the Germans by saying that he was more afraid of the Mexicans who play better football according to him.

German coach Joachim Loew on said in an interview that he was happy with his sides performance and felt that the win against England had given them the needed confidence. He was also appreciative of the attacking capability of the Argentinians which he said was not just dependent on Lionel Messi. He too chose to play the mind game saying that they have found weaknesses the Argentinian side but said that he will keep the information for his players only.
