London, Dec 06 (PRINTWORDS NEWS)-
The MFDs are ideal for those computer users who want to minimize workspace clutter and get their work done in less time. While the price of MFDs have taken a nosedive in recent times not all of them perform equally well in various tasks. A model that is good in printing may throw up lackluster results in scanning or vice versa. If you want an MFD that performs equally well in all tasks and also throws in some useful and additional features opt for the HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless. This inkjet based MFD is excellent for home offices and small business setups that need to work within tight deadlines. Put it to any task-be it printing, scanning or copying, it consistently delivers high quality results. The rich feature set of this MFD justifies the £265 price tag.
It is not very compact in size and the bulk is owing to its automatic document feeder, scanner bay and auto duplexer. The touch screen color LCD display is not very big in size but it is fairly easy to operate. A useful feature is a graphical gauge indicating the remaining amount of ink. The front buttons are meant for one touch scanning and emailing. Like a lot of high end MFDs this Officejet model has a card reader that is compliant with PictBridge standard.
HP has provided a number of options to connect the Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless to a PC. You can use the Ethernet port or use the USB 2.o data cable. The best solution is to utilize its Wi Fi connectivity. Connecting it to a wireless network is not troublesome as the printer software guides you with a visual walkthrough. The model has a claimed duty cycle of 15000 PPM and it should suffice for most midsized business setups. This printer uses a total of six ink tanks that result in superior photo output. Those who are worried about its running cost would be pleased to know that the model will not bleed your purse dry.
The scanner used in Officejet Pro 8500 wireless offers support for OCR and this is a boon for business users. However, the software named HP Solution Center is not efficient in recognizing handwriting. It works with large font texts quite flawlessly and is easy to operate. The MFD gives the other rival products a run for their money as far as print speed is concerned.
Photo printing is not as fast as text printing speed and that is quite natural. While most business setups do not require photo printouts on a regular basis, every user will be impressed by the stunning photo quality output offered by this model. The color saturation is almost perfect and skin tones look neutral. Even the photo printouts taken on plain paper look nice with subtle tonal variations. Text printout is also impressive and the printer can churn out great looking grayscale printouts that resemble the output of mono laser printers. It comes with one year standard warranty. The HP site also offers driver support and updates for the users.
