JUNE 24 (PRINTWORDS NEWS)
Apple had been hogging the limelight for the last few days as the days of the launch of iPhone 4 was getting closer. The wait is now over, the latest incarnation of Apple iPhone can be bought now. However, even before the hoopla around the iPhone 4 could settle down the phone has got a new rival. It is from Motorola and the new Droid X is the successor to the Droid which was launched earlier as an iPhone killer. Many of us still like the brilliant ‘Droid Does’ advertisement which mocked the iPhone 3GS’s inability to multitask and other shortcomings. While the Droid did not kill the iPhone it proved its mettle and helped Motorola to bounce back from near oblivion.
The Droid X is going to be released in July and as expected Motorola has tied up with Verizon Wireless, the arch rival of AT &T which offers iPhone in the USA. It is difficult to say which one will rule the roost as both the phones have their strengths and weaknesses. The Apple Fanatics may go gaga over the retina display in the new iPhone but the Droid X has a larger screen and quite capable of dealing with HD content. It edge ahead of the rival as it has a HDMI out port. The Droid X also comes with a better battery.
From the user’s perspective, the better network coverage of Verizon Wireless is more meaningful. No matter how great the iPhone 4 looks, its potential will be bottlenecked by the shoddy 3G coverage of AT&T. Verizon also offers more user friendly rental plans nowadays.
