June 2, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) The reality show Losing It With Jillian was aired for the first time on television on June 1. The show has been long in the making, and before being aired, it was being touted to be in the same line as the hit reality show, The Biggest Loser, a fitness show that dealt with common people being brought to branch, and putting them on a routine that would help them lose their excess weight.
Losing It With Jillian actually deals with a very similar concept. Based on the same format, it has the host, Jillian Michaels, helping the common people in the country lose their weight. The difference is that while the other show had brought people together in the ranch, this one has Jillian visiting them in their homes. In the show, she visits the homes of people who find it difficult to tackle their weight problems, which, in turn, lead to a number of different issues.
In the show, Jillian helps those people deal with their weight problems, counselling them not only on their physical issues, bit also helping them come to terms and solve their psychological problems. After she helps the participants in the show lose their eight, she also embarks on further psychological counselling in order to help them adjust to the new lifestyle that invariably comes with new body.
However, the task, which was no doubt exciting, also turned out to be a pretty gruelling one, considering that many a time, the fitness expert found herself in the midst of some very hostile strangers, and, as everyone know, strangeness added to hostility can be really, really tiresome, not to mention scary at some level. As Jillian Michaels herself commented, more often than not, she found out that she had landed herself in some very uncomfortable situation, having to share the same roof and borrow a bed form people who obviously took her presence to be very unwelcome, and made no attempt to conceal the fact.
Jillian Michaels cracks an amusing anecdote to show how uncomfortable the situation was in those households. She used to sleep alone in a room, and at night, she would always have half an eye open, afraid lest someone came up and murder her, so open was the animosity. While that is obviously and exaggeration, Michaels made no bones about the fact that she had to face some really anathemic situation during her stint as the host of the show.
However, Jillian also stresses that the show was an amazing experience for her, an eye opener of sorts. She said that not only did she get to know a lot of the common folk of the country from very close quarters, but she could also get a close look at all the problems that the commoners have to face during such economic times, no to mention their own personal demons that they have to fight everyday.
Overall, Jillian claims, being a part of the reality show has brought her a lot closer to the real reality that goes on in every part of the not so glamorous country. She also said that in the show, her fans will finally be able to get a glimpse at the real Jillian, sans her make up, right in the morning, unkempt and often, literally, sweating it out with the participants.
