London, Dec.07, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) After a tip off alerted the police about the where- abouts of the husband of the woman who was found dead last week, authorities were successful in arresting Michael Roberts last night. Police intercepted Roberts when he was found strolling about the town of Wrexham in north Wales. The location is said to be almost 30 miles from where his home is. The tip- off alert mostly came in from some residents in the area, who had been able to recognize Roberts from the police sketches that had been released by the police in order to track him down. With his arrest, it is believed that quite a few of the questions related to the murder of Vicky Roberts will come to light.
The body of 25 year old Vicky Roberts was found in the garage of her Cheshire residence. The postmortem reports indicate the reason for the death to be due to strangulation. The newly wed was a resident of Partington Square in Darebury, located near Runcorn. The incident had reportedly occurred on Thursday. Her husband, Michael Roberts had been on the wanted list of the authorities since then, for questioning. According to the Cheshire Police, Roberts is going to be brought back to Cheshire later and will be questioned about his wife’s murder.
It was on the hue and cry raised by the father of the deceased Vicky that the murder was brought to light. Vicky Robert’s father grew concerned about the welfare of his daughter when he did not hear from her for a considerable period of time. When the police was alerted, they reached the building to find the body of Vicky and Michael absconding. Since then, the 26 year old Roberts had been included in the “most wanted” list of Cheshire police. According to the spokeswoman for the Cheshire Constabulary, “I can confirm that officers were conducting a search of the property when Michael Roberts made off from the scene. The officers were in the house at the time.”
The young couple had gotten married in the month of June this year and the photographs of their wedding is displayed on the Facebook page of Michael. It is mostly because of the short period of time between the couple’s marriage and the the murder, which makes this tale all the more tragic. It has just been 6 months that the two got married. Roberts is said to have been working at a local outlet of the Boots chemist chain as a store manager. After the news of the murder was leaked, friends of Roberts as well as police had made repeated appeals of surrender to him.
A witness account from a neighbour seem to highlight the fact that at the time of the murder, a scream was heard and Michael was spotted running away from the scene of the crime. At that point of time, Roberts’ was supposedly clad in business suit. Following the discovery of the murder, the couple’s home was sealed off for forensic examination. With his arrest, there is hope that further light will be shed on the murder.
