London, Dec 18 (PRINTWORDS NEWS)-motorola milestone sells out at expansys 0 With Milestone, Motorola Bounces Back From Near Oblivion There was a time when Motorola was considered as a leading Cellphone maker and its models were synonymous with style and sheer oomph. While Nokia used to dominate the entry level and high end market, Motorola handsets were  sought after by style conscious youngsters and even some corporate users. When it launched the Razr series of phones the world was stunned. It was the most stylish phone of its time and suddenly everybody started scrambling for the MotoRazr models. However, things took a drastic turn after 2007. Apple took the cellphone market by storm with its iPhone and it started the Touch screen revolution. The impact was too big for the other companies to gauge. While the iPhone wooed the geeks and stylish gadget lovers alike, Motorola failed to bring a  worthy successor to its successful Razr lineup. The music centric MotoRokr series met with lukewarm response and for some time the company just went on producing mediocre looking sets that found no takers.

Some of the industry insiders predicted it was the end of the journey for the US based cell phone maker, but Motorola managed to bounce back in late 2009. Its Android based smartphone Droid, positioned as a direct competitor to iPhone has got encouraging reviews from the critics and it is selling in USA in record numbers. When Motorola announced that the Droid will be launched in UK and Europe as a GSM version dubbed Milestone, the users got excited. As per the data available from Expansys, the Milestone will repeat the success story of Droid. After making its debut in UK on 10th December, the Milestone is selling like hot cakes. The first lot sold out within 3 hours.

When you take the Milestone in your hand it feels like a robustly built phone. Appearance wise it is very similar to the Droid. The 3.7 inch Touchscreen is gorgeous and comfortable enough for web surfing. The QWERTY sliding keyboard, while an useful addition is no match for the Milestone’s responsive on-screen keyboard. As far as typing messages and email is concerned it performs at par with the best touch screen models available in the market. The Touch screen is multi touch capable like the iPhone. That means what the Droid does not, Milestone can do!

The 5 MP camera in the Motorola Milestone is better than the iPhone’s 3 MP one but it can not replace dedicated digital cameras. However, it excels in recording video. You can record DVD quality video at a resolution of 720×480 at 24 fps with it. Motorola includes a 8GB memory card with this phone and it can support up to 32GB microSD card. Therefore storing media would not be a problem with this phone. The users will also appreciate its voice directed MOTONAV GPS navigation that gives turn by turn direction. This is a feature you won’t find in other smartphones. You can further extend the capability of the phone by docking it to the Motorola MILESTONE Multimedia Station which comes as an optional accessory. It transforms the Milestone into a digital photo frame, alarm clock and music player. Overall, this is a killer phone that can set Motorola’s plunging fortunes soar higher.
