London, Dec 27 (PRINTWORDS NEWS) -
The netbooks have always received flaks from the users for their lackluster performance in the graphics and gaming department since their inception. That is why major netbook makers and chip maker Intel have been trying their level best to incorporate better graphics into the latest models. Intel generated a fair amount of buzz in the industry when it announced its futuristic Pine Trail platform. Apart from that Nvidia’s Ion is also among the popular netbook platform that is likely to find acceptance in top end netbooks in 2010.
MSI also joined the netbook bandwagon along wit rivals like Asus, Acer and HP. When other netbook makers are gearing up to climb to the Pine Trail platform can it sit idle? That explains why the company has revamped its netbook lineup. The latest netbook from its stable is the Wind U135 model built on the much touted PineTrail platform. It sports a spanking new Atom N450 CPU that replaces the older N270 CPU. It also has Windows 7 and a roomy 250GB hard drive. The lid and design of the model has also been jazzed up to counter the competition from rival companies.
The Wind U135 has some resemblance to rival ASUS Eee PC 1005PE which is also built on the same platform. The glossy 1024×6000 display has a glossy finish. However, the new Atom CPU is not much faster since it runs on the same core speed. The battery offers around 7 hours of life on a single recharge. The company is likely to release another model named U160 in CES 2010. The U135 offers WiMax a feature that should be liked by hardcore geeks. It will be released in UK in January 2010 and the cost should be around £279. It seems a good bet from MSI to take on the rival models next year.
