July 1, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) The bidding for the biggest names in the NBA has begun today and LeBron James looks like the hottest pick of the season with teams shouldering each other for him. This year the number of free agents and the number of teams with free salary caps has made the bidding an extremely important power game. Teams will look to have a winning combination at a winning price. They will take cue from the Los Angeles Lakers side who have made it to the finals every year after picking Pau Gasol to complement Kobe Bryant.
The New Jersey Nets’ President Rod Thorn said that this years NBA Free agency bidding is something that has never happened before. He said that though there have been big time free agents before, there have not been so many teams trying to woo them. David Kahn of Minnesota Timberwolves said that the teams are no more in control. He said that there are just too many teams with room and too many fine players out there to be taken. He called for a ‘nimble’ approach and said that teams might have to change course if necessary.
Apart from LeBron James, another upcoming star who is expected to hit the $13 million per year mark in contracts. He is a restricted free agent with the Memphis Grizzlies and earned $4.4 last year. With an average of 6 rebounds per game and 4 years experience, he might just be under the radar of most teams. The teams and the players are now locked in combat to sign the best possible deal on July 8.
