May 26 (PRINTWORDS NEWS)440x330 1200x900 2 Palm Pre Plus Is Out To Battle It Out With Android Based Devices The first Palm Pre was loved by all when it was released and despite the good reviews it could not live up to the expectation. However, Palm which was once the most popular maker of Smartphone is trying to bounce back in the market. The market veterans are hoping that the merger with HP will give it the boost it needed. Now the company has come up with the successor to the Palm Pre and it has been named Palm Pre Plus. It is too early to say whether the Palm Pre would be able to survive the increasing onslaught of android phones that are invading the market in large numbers. However, the successor to Palm Pre has the elements in it to succeed in a competitive market.

The similarity with the predecessor is obvious and the screen and smooth UI is the same. The QWERTY keyboard is a joy to use and it feels less rubbery. The keys however are still quite small and the users with large fingers will find it hard to use them. However, the model does not come with an onscreen keyboard. The slider quality in the Palm Pre Plus is better than that of its predecessor. The slider edges are smoother as well but they are still edgy.

Palm has not only beefed up the hardware but also boosted its memory capacity. The 16GB memory is a boon for the users who have huge collections of songs and movies. The phone however, does not offer external memory slot. Even then 16 GB of in built memory should be adequate for the majority of users. The USB connectivity with the PC works simple and the users will not find it hard to transfer large amounts of media to and from the phone.

The PRE Plus excels in the multitasking department as it has enough on board memory. You may play games like NFS without slowing the phone down. Where the Pre Plus falters is its battery life. It is not particularly bad but if you keep features like GPS on and browse web often the charge will exhaust within a day. The Palm Apps tore suffers badly when it is compared to the Apple app store or Android marketplace.

The webOS is an awesome phone OS and it can multitask pretty well. The synergy features is alike MotoBlur and it will be liked by the social networking buffs a lot. The web browser is not as good as Opera Mini but it will get your job done. Pre Plus also has a very efficient and sleek e mail client. Over all, the Palm Pre Plus improves on its mighty predecessor and if you can leave without the apps this could be your perfect mate. It may not kill the iPhone but can prove to be a worthy contender to it and also to other Android based devices.
