JUNE 2, (PRINTWORDS NEWS)- Rockstar Games is remembered as the makers of the “Grand Theft Auto” and with “GTA”-styled gaming set against the backdrop of the West, it did made it to the next level. Western genre games are plenty in offering but they seem to follow the same and the similar action routine. The “GTA” titles on the other hand would leave you bored pretty soon .Well you can carry on if you like being a thug looting others and causing mayhem. But the newest offering Red Dead Redemption has John Marston as an ex-outlaw settling down with his wife and his child only to learn that he cant seem to bid farewell to his past. Before all gets topsy turvy in the game Marston shall have to hunt down and take down one of his former buddies.
So the game unfolds into a heroic saga of an antihero set against the backdrop of regular outskirts of the Texan lands. Quite similar to “Fallout 3″ and all recent “GTA” titles, “Red Dead Redemption” is also set against a wide-open environment. The main goal is to hunt and take down the old buddy. What lies beneath is the West which is said to be the “carnival of carnage” and “carnal delights”. It tries on your patience as there are a lot of side missions that reminds of “GUN”; the only other game in the same genre which is indeed a tough play as well as the highest side mission game . You can simply go ahead and ride your horse around and enjoy the bliss and the visual splendor in the rolling hills of the western lands , the canyons, the ghost towns and not to forget the ranches. If you are a fan of Clint Eastwood then this is one game which you gonna like for sure. The player has to stroll out from point A to point B and one should ignore the extracurricular activities. But ask yourself there’s no valid point in doing so. “Red Dead Redemption” is that very game where you can earn all trophies as you play in multiple times and then spend the extra time to get to watch how the townsfolk react. Her’s is your chance to play either as the savior or the antagonist. “Red Dead Redemption” also throws in options for online gaming options. But the “Open Range is seemingly the best one out of all. It is one mode which lets you wander all across the hills even beyond the boundaries where you aren’t supposed to go. You hook up with other players in the due course of the game. You can hit upon a duel or team up with all other players playing online as they take on bandits and all other similar quests which are nothing but a favorite appendages from the main game play.
In the words of the game developer “Red Dead Redemption’s varied wildlife adds a great deal to the world and also makes it a dangerous place to let your guard down. Crows, hawks, eagles, and vultures fly overhead; armadillos, raccoons, deer, and skunks try to stay out of your way; and cougars, coyotes, wolves, and even snakes can be dangerous if they see you before you see them. All of these species and lots more inevitably cross your path, and whether they’re solitary creatures or hunting as a pack, their behavior is always believable. Furthermore, all of these animals can be hunted and then–via an animation that sees blood spattering on the screen–harvested for their skins, meat, and other valuable body parts. Beavers, boars, bobcats, bears, buffalo, bighorn–all have something to offer, and all pose a slightly different challenge. Other than the fun of the hunt, the main reason to kill most of these animals is so that you can sell the aforementioned body parts to a store owner the next time you’re in town. Sometimes, though, there are additional incentives in the form of ambient challenges that, as the name suggests, reward you for objectives that you might complete in the course of regular gameplay. For example, sharpshooter challenges include shooting people’s hats off and shooting birds out of the sky from a moving train. Hunter challenges, on the other hand, include one-shotting grizzly bears and taking down a pack of wolves using only a knife”. It might be too early to comment what a great game this one has been but it wont be a crime to say that it is one of the very best western games of the recent times.
