Hitler Howls Over Dentist Terror: Book Reveals

hitler Hitler Howls Over Dentist Terror: Book RevealsDec. 13, (PRINTWORDS NEWS)There are a lot of things we don’t know about Hitler. Things he did not mention in Mein Kampf. Things that are not included in the history books. Perhaps that is why he has intrigued historians and psychologists alike for decades. They all have yearned to know how the man who was almost becoming an artist turned out to be one of the most loathed racists and murderers in history. And how come the very man, who devised ingenious methods of torture for the Jews, and displayed unmitigated courage, could be afraid of the negligible pain one suffers in the dentist’s chamber.

Sounds bizarre? But that is what has been revealed in a recent book that has been penned about Johannes Blaschke. He was the dentist to Adolf Hitler for over 20 years, well, tried to be, at least. We don’t know if he was mighty proud of the designation, but Hitler himself was sure not that enthusiastic. The Führer was terribly scared of the dentist, not just this one in particular, but the whole of the breed in general.

It was not that easy to take Herr Hitler by the teeth, something that Blaschke understood only too soon. The book, “Dentist Of The Devil”, by Menevse Deprem-Hennen, reveals that Hitler was so afraid of having to see the dentist, that he even allowed total dental negligence. Wonder how he managed to deliver those powerful and instigating speeches with bad breath. And how he managed to maintain that huge army of Brown Shirts and a police force of the Gestapo kneeling to him. For that must have been a problem, judging from what the book says.adolf Hitler Howls Over Dentist Terror: Book Reveals

The book reveals that Hitler had suffered from chronic abscesses, gum disease and bad breath. At one point of time, he finally gave in to the pressure that his teeth were surely building up on him, and agreed to visit the dentist. Or he might have been afraid that even the most powerful of speeches lose their zing when interpolated with bad breath.

When the dentist was finally able to take as good look at his 32, he diagnosed the problem to be lurking inn the root canals. When the necessary operations were scheduled, Hitler chickened out. He asked Blaschke to stretch out the operations to eight days. All because he could not bear the pain that the simple operation would inflict on him.doc Hitler Howls Over Dentist Terror: Book Reveals

Unfortunately for Hitler, he had to sustain the torture inflicted upon him in his personal concentration camp for many days. In 1944 itself, he had ten fillings put in his teeth. However, it was not done as a measure to salvage whatever was left of his teeth, but because of a failed attempt on his life that left splinters embedded in his face. No prizes for guessing what caused him more pain, the splinters filling his face or the dentist filling his teeth.

Menevse obviously went over a lot of pain to gather all the hitherto undisclosed information about the world’s most dreaded dominatrix of all time. Most of the medical records of Hitler are no longer available, as they had been burned when an aircraft leaving Berlin, one of the last cities to fall, was shot down from the air. What was left was discovered by Fedor Bruck, a Jewish dentist who took over Blaschke’s practice. Menevse obtained the documents from a friend, Wolfgangm, who was the son of Bruck and a lawyer by profession. It took Menevse six years to assemble all the details.bruck Hitler Howls Over Dentist Terror: Book Reveals

After the fall of Berlin in the hands of the Russians, they found the charred corpse of the despot in a bunker, beside his newly wed bride Eva Braun, but they managed to track down his secretary Kaethe Hauserman. She vanished without trace for the next ten years after she was taken to the Soviet Kingdom. Bruck, who had survived the war in hiding, found the documents after he took over Blaschke’s practice, and hid them before the Russians got wind of the fact.

“Dentist Of The Devil” deals with the medical records of Hitler during the 20 years that Blaschke had been his dental surgeon. There are also details of the other Nazi leaders that Blaschke had treated. It seems Hitler was not the only one to treat the dentist’s chair as an older version of the electric chair. Hitler seemed to share his phobia with another Nazi leader: Hermann Goering, who, as Blaschke had noted, started to howl even before he got into the dentist’s chair.

Menevse notes that Blaschke’s records do not contain anything that might support the view that has been debated for decades: that Hitler used the gold extracted from the teeth of his victims in the concentration camps and gas chambers to plate his own. However, the doctor did note that he used the same on the SS army.
