Dec 21, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) Christmas is the time to give, Christmas is the time to get, more over Christmas is the time for gift. And there is no other gift than a Mac. Macintosh knows it too. That is why it has been creating a lots of products remembering Christmas Gift tradition. Obviously MacBook Pro dominates the market. MacBook Pro is already the best seller at Amazon.com. The MacBook Pro is the best possible gift for a little over a $1000.

This model, likes the previous models, is crafted from a single block of aluminum, creating a thin and light mobile computing workhorse. This less than 1 inch thin and 4.5 pounds laptop is also highly durable. The new MacBook Pro includes a 13.3-inch, LED-backlit glass display as well as a glass trackpad that doesn’t include a button. Mac captures 66% of the American computer market.

Mac has more surprises reserved for its customers. It will start a new Apps Store for Mac Book. According to them: “The Mac App Store is just like the App Store for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. So it’s as easy to find and download Mac apps as it is to add your favorite magazine to iPad or a new game to iPod touch.” You have to pay for it too like the previous Apps Stores.

Mac is in the news for more than these reasons. A very rare Apple Lisa 1 computer has been put up for auction on the popular auction site eBay.
The computer is described by the owner as “one of a kind early production Lisa 1 that still boots up!”. This legendary computer currently has a bid of $25,100.

JUNE 24 (PRINTWORDS NEWS) Apple had been hogging the limelight for the last few days as the days of the launch of iPhone 4 was getting closer. The wait is now over, the latest incarnation of Apple iPhone can be bought now. However, even before the hoopla around the iPhone 4 could settle down the phone has got a new rival. It is from Motorola and the new Droid X is the successor to the Droid which was launched earlier as an iPhone killer. Many of us still like the brilliant ‘Droid Does’ advertisement which mocked the iPhone 3GS’s inability to multitask and other shortcomings. While the Droid did not kill the iPhone it proved its mettle and helped Motorola to bounce back from near oblivion.

The Droid X is going to be released in July and as expected Motorola has tied up with Verizon Wireless, the arch rival of AT &T which offers iPhone in the USA. It is difficult to say which one will rule the roost as both the phones have their strengths and weaknesses. The Apple Fanatics may go gaga over the retina display in the new iPhone but the Droid X has a larger screen and quite capable of dealing with HD content. It edge ahead of the rival as it has a HDMI out port. The Droid X also comes with a better battery.

From the user’s perspective, the better network coverage of Verizon Wireless is more meaningful. No matter how great the iPhone 4 looks, its potential will be bottlenecked by the shoddy 3G coverage of AT&T. Verizon also offers more user friendly rental plans nowadays.

June 17 (PRINTWORDS NEWS) Ever since Steve Jobs unveiled the new iPhone at WWDC the excitement regarding the smart phone has shot up considerably. The pre order of the iPhone turned out to be a mess owing to the flaws in the AT&T sites. However, that has failed to deter the enthusiasm of the Apple fanatics who want to buy the phone as early as possible. The iPhone sold over 600000 on a day which brought the sites crashing in both UK and the USA. The demand in countries like German is also unexpectedly high.

Apple has introduced many new features in the iPhone 4 and the OS has also been upgraded. Despite the looming threat from the Android based Smartphone brigade the popularity of the iPhone continues to grow across the globe. In the UK, Apple has made an offer through which the buyers can buy it sans a contract. Sadly in the USA the only option is AT&T which is known for its inferior network coverage. The rush for the iPhone can be bad news for other handsets makers like Nokia which is losing its share in smart phones every month.

The O2 had the right to sell iPhone last year in the UK but this year it is a close competition between Orange, Vodafone and O2. The pre order in the UK is yet to begin. The early reviews that the iPhone 4 has got are largely positive and it is a killer device in terms of specs. The sales will be affected somewhat by the bundled data plans offered by the carriers.

The iPhone 3GS look cool enough but the new incarnation of iPhone surpasses it by a fair margin. It will be available in 16 and 32 GB versions after it gets released on 24thof this month. The first thing you will look at is its rectangular shape a departure from the curves of its predecessor. The glass used on its front is more scratch resistant than plastic as Apple says.

The call quality should improve owing to the inclusion of an additional microphone for noise cancelling. The new iPhone features what Apple calls the Retina display. It is meant for the HD buffs since the screen has a wonderful resolution of 960×640. The phone runs the latest version of the iPhone OS named iOS4. It includes some long desired amendments. The camera has been jazzed up as well. Now you can take 5 MP snaps with the iPhone 4. There is autofocus and LED flash and so the images will look decent even if they are shot in low light situations. The video recording capability of the camera is impressive as it records 720p HD video.

For video calling you get a front camera. Apple promises that iPhone 4 offers much better battery life despite its svelte profile. The Wi Fi speed has been improved with the inclusion of faster 802.11n standard. It is too early to say how the new iPhone will fare. However, Apple loyalists will make sure it sells like hot cakes once it hits the stores. It may not be perfect or more feature rich smart phone, but at the end of the day it is an Apple!

As a matter of fact the chief brain of Apple said that he has always supported the new advancements when talking televisions but he cant seem to accept Google TV being innovative. Reportedly, the Apple CEO was attending the D8 conference held near to Los Angeles.

Steve Jobs said that in his opinion TV industry can only grow if the consumers agree to pay for the set top boxes. Although his arguments would take time to gain grounds with the reality the CEO feels that there is no other way by which the TV industry can be helped to grow bigger and better.

In his words “The television industry fundamentally has a subsidized business model that gives everyone a set-top box, and that pretty much undermines innovation in the sector,” said Jobs. He further added ; “Ask TiVo, ask Roku, ask Google in a few months. The only way this is going to change is if you start from scratch, tear up the box, redesign and get it to the consumer in a way that they want to buy it. But right now, there’s no way to do that.”
The TV industry, in Jobs’ opinion, needs a “viable go-to-market strategy. It’s not a problem with the technology, it’s a problem with the go-to-market strategy….I’m sure smarter people than us will figure this out, but that’s why we say Apple TV is a hobby.”….so can you deny?

MAY 28, (PRINTWORDS.COM)- Acer Group which happens to be one of the largest supplier of personal computer demonstrated their forthcoming tablet PC. Reportedly, the company has plans in store to launch the device in a later phase of the current year. Needles to mention that these device is going to fall under the same belt as that of Apple i Pad which has already hit the popularity charts for each and every gadget freak.

Acer’s new device sports a 7” screen along with a QWERTY keyboard which is indeed a surprise package. Acer’s tablet PC comes with a 7” colour touch screen that was shown to one and all by the chief executive of the company Gianfranco Lanci at the press event launched in Beijing earlier this week. However, the head of the company Acer group didn’t not reveal any detailed specifications for the upcoming device. Although he did left a hint that the gadget is going to be decked up with 3G connectivity.

Apart from that all the regular features will be there beside an integrated Wi-Fi along with the Blue tooth which are natural expectations. Its pretty obvious that the upcoming tablet PC of Acer group is based upon based upon a microprocessor powered by the ARM architecture (to be precise , it is Qualcomm Snapdragon). The new device is based upon Google Android but not upon Google Chrome operating system (OS) as it was speculated earlier. It does feature a hardware keyboard that is planted under the screen and latent from one and all which shall let all users to type in in much easier pattern than a normal touchscreen keyboard.

The keyboard, unfortunately, is very small and it is questionable whether it will be possible to type on it comfortably: typing with one hand while holding the device with another will hardly be convenient since tablets seem to be much more heavy than mobile phones, whereas typing with both hands when the product is lying on the table will barely be convenient since the keyboard is too small. In any case, the drawbacks of the hardware keyboard are basically the same as for an on-screen one.

At present the official price of Acer’s tablet is not known, but earlier reports suggested that it may be as low as around $300. Unfortunately, the slate will only be available sometime in Q4 2010.

The tablet PC from Acer will have to compete not only against Apple iPad, but also against the approaching Asustek Computer’s Eee Pad, Samsung Electronics’ S Pad and other products of the kind. Since the prices of the slates do not seem to be truly low, customers will pay a lot of attention on services provided by manufacturers of such devices, e.g., content delivery mechanisms and so on. In case of Acer, the actual platform owner will be Google, which partners with various distributors of content. However, Google Android will also power many other slates and Acer will either have to offer certain exclusive features or to cut down the price of its tablet so to be competitive.

As a matter of fact, after its launch in the market Apple I Pad has inspired quite a few biggies in the market to start scratching their brains in carving out a similar device as of the Ipad. Following the very same note, BT is all set to have come up wit their own iteration of Apples I pad rival. Reportedly, the device was displayed to one and all who attended BT’s Early Strategy Day held in London.

The first view of the gadget has confirmed the specifications of the prototype being a smaller one to that of Apple Ipad. It is said to be more of an touch pad which makes use of the Bluetooth technology to make or receive calls from the device. Besides the calling features the gadget is also decked up with text messaging features. After dropping in their flagship model, I pad which already has a huge fan following, it’s time for Apple to throw in some sparks with I specs. “I specs” happens to be the newly proposed 3d glasses which are to be launched very soon for all major devices of Apple like I pod and I phone. With I specs in the market all users shall be blessed to enjoy a 3d movie experience without having to visit the cinema halls. Apple published a patent for “I specs” which revealed its structural design and its application to ensure that the user obtain a 3D rich vision in front of his eyes.

The mechanism is pretty simple. All you need to do is to slot load your iPod or iPhone on a viewing screen. Following that a pre-fitted lens in the device goes ahead to project the image from the screen for easy viewing. The lens gives an illusionary effect as it goes ahead to split images into various frames. I specs is streamlined with “Stereoscopic imaging” which adds to the frame depth by taking into consideration the differences in angle between the image frames and the position of the human eye.

The gadget will be head mounted and will carry a special slot for loading the device head-mounted gadget. The gadget shall also be decked up with a camera which shall be able to stream video from outside. In case anyone approaches the user wearing the gadget, the infrared frames attached to the gadget will enable a normal display mode which shall pop up letting the wearer know about the presence of the outsider.
