July 10, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) On Friday Company President Dana White confirmed to a media source that Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar will face Cain Velasquez at the UFC 121 that is scheduled to be held in California on October 23. However, an official announcement of the event is still awaited. The announcement by the company President has created waves among the fans of both the fighters as both Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez has shown some brilliant fights in recent times.
UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar returned last week to defend his title and got a submission out of Shane Carwin in the second round of the UFC 116 that was held at Las Vegas. On the other hand he would be facing an emerging WWE star Velasquez who has to his credit a perfect 8-0 record. He knocked out Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in February at UFC 110.
There is no doubt that the scheduled Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez fight is being looked forward to by many fans of both the fighters. The last week’s performance of Lesnar has increased the expectation of his fans all the more. Lesnar endured multiple rounds against Carwin last week and although Carwin tried to win by going for his opponent’s red zone in the very first week, the latter fought till the end and went for an arm-triangle choke. Many analysts feel that Lesnar has that strength that can defeat any fighter as they point out that he has a combination of strength and speed that is unique. However, Velasquez has also a remarkable speed and is known to put to use varied techniques that might ask for a submission from the World champion.
