June 11, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) Verna Oller’s story who left secretly left behind a fortune of $4.5 million to build a swimming pool for the residents of Long Beach, Washington and a donation for school children and teachers was aired on last Wednesday, June 9 evening with Diane Sawyer as ABC News. The Peninsula story grabbed the attention of the residents as well as the viewers.
Verna Oller was a resident of Long Beach, Washington. She died at the age of 98 on May 10. After her death it was known that she donated $4.5 million to build a swimming pool for the residents of her community and also gave money to poor school children. As per reports the reason that she cited was as a growing child she could not swim and the boundaries of North West Pacific Ocean City it is always dangerous to swim in the ocean. The people of the city are happy to hear the news as now they will have a swimming pool.
Reports say that Verna Oller’s friend Carolyn Glenn, whose husband Guy Glenn was managing her states was contacted by ABC on June 9. The crew of ABC came to peninsula and interviewed them at their home. In the interview Carolyn Glenn said that they taped shots of the beach, Shots of Long Beach and took Andrea Noonan’s interview, the owner of Circle of Life where Verna Oller spent last few years of her life. ABC also filmed Verna Oller’s previous interview of 2007.
The people used to know Verna Oller as a frugal lady. She never used to go to a hair dresser as she could cut her own hair free of cost, fixed her own shoelaces to avoid extra expense. Now, after the news of her donation came front everybody is amazed to know how generous she was.
