Viktor Bout To Be Extradited TO USA?

AUG 20 (PRINTWORDS NEWS) Viktor Bout 832761gm a Viktor Bout To Be Extradited TO USA?The ex Russian Air force officer who became infamous as the “merchant of death” Viktor Bout is now facing extradition to the soil of the USA. A Thai court has given the verdict which has created tension amidst the US Russian diplomatic circle. He had been slapped with arm supply and terrorism charges. The man allegedly supplied arms to Colombian rebels. The Russian who is now 43 however has vehemently denied all the charges slapped against him and pleaded to be innocent. He was kept in a Thai prison amidst tight security for the last two years. However, his lawyer has lashed out at the court verdict and said that he will challenge it to stall the extradition to the USA.

Lak Nittiwattanawichan his lawyer said after the Thai court verdict came out that there is reason to believe that Bout will not remain safe once he is sent to USA. The Russian authorities are not happy with the verdict either. They are of the opinion that US pressure on the Thai government has resulted in such a verdict. If the prisoner is not sent to USA in three months he would have to be allowed to return to Russia. He was arrested in a US-Thai sting operation in a Bangkok hotel two years back.

Four charges were slapped on him including terrorism and ploy to kill US nationals. The Nicolas Cage starrer Lord of War was reportedly based on his life. The wife of the accused and his daughter met him after the verdict.
