(PRINTWORDS NEWS)-The new Canon IXUS 115 HS is meant for the users who want a straight forward and decently performing compact digital camera. It offers a 12.1 MP sensor with 4x optical zoom. It bears many resemblances with the 220 HS but has a bigger rear LCD display. The camera is loaded with features and performs really well under most situations. It records Full HD video and you also get a dedicated record button with this model.
The standard AV and USB interface is there but Canon has packed in an HDMI out port so that you can enjoy the HD video recorded by the device on your large screen HDTV. The HS in the name of the model stands for High Sensitivity and the sensor sports the backside-illumination. It also offers ISO 3200.
The 110 HS offers identical effects seen in its more expensive cousins and they are fun to play around with. The camera supports SD, SDHC or SDHC cards for storage. Canon does not offer any internal memory with it.
The build quality of the 115HS is solid and you won’t feel it is a cheap or flimsy model. The camera comes with a smart auto mode now a compulsory feature for all digital compact cameras. You do get some options for manual adjustments in the Program auto mode.
There are useful features like smart shutter mode, high speed burst mode and underwater mode. You get some waterproof covers for the last mode. Canon also offers a few Panorama modes. There are some interesting high speed movie modes in this camera.
The camera is quite speedy and you will not feel any performance lag with it. The autofocus works well and it is quite fast. The camera shoots sharp images under most situations with vivid color. Even in low light it does not let you down as long as you do not push up the ISO beyond 800.
