(PRINTWORDS NEWS)- Dell Inc one of the leading PC makers of the world is now concentrating on entering the lucrative smart phone segment. This is a natural move considering rivals like Acer and Asus have already made foray in this sector.
HP is also about to unleash a plethora of smart phones after its acquisition of Palm last year. Its Streak a tablet aimed at combating iPad has already made waves in tech industry.
Now it is all set to enter the fiercely competitive android smart phone market. The announcement of the much touted Venue Pro, a Windows 7 phone prototype has also got it accolades. Dell is also going to release a android version of Venue and has dropped Pro from its name.
The industry buzz is that Dell will release Venue in South Korea. It will run on Android 2.2 Froyo. While this is a capable OS it would have been even better if Dell had equipped with the upcoming Android version codenamed gingerbread.
Its price is expected to be around $600. South Korea is the home turf of Samsung and LG the two companies that rule the smart phone segment thee days. Dell is going to face stiff competition there.
The USP of the Dell Venue Android is a huge 4.1 inch AMOLED display. The screen is covered with gorilla glass which is a boon for the users. However, it does not have a slider QWERTY keyboard like some of the contenders from Motorola and Samsung. Del;l has not said when it will be released in UK and USA yet.
