(PRINTWORDS NEWS)- The Japan government is leaving no stones unturned to carry out extensive rescue operation in the tsunami and quake hit Asian country. The government deployed around 50000 military and rescue workers to quicken the mammoth save and rescue operation.
Personnel from defence forces have been deployed and vehicles, aircrafts and ships have been deployed in the Pacific region. Apart from the rescue teams of Japan, global search and rescue teams have joined the operations in the devastated country.
The United States has sent a flotilla with a couple of aircraft carriers to Japan to offer aid. The Army choppers airlifted people stuck at their homes in submerged regions.
Naoto Kan the Japanese Prime Minister said that so far 3000 people have been rescued from the tsunami and quake ravaged areas in the country. He also expressed his thanks to the countries that have sent rescue teams in the time of crisis.
According to the reports at least 1000 people have lost their lives and the death toll may go up with time. Northeastern Japan witnessed an aftershock with magnitude 6.0 late Saturday and that was followed by a quake with a magnitude of 4.8. These have made things complicated for the emergency relief teams.
Efforts are on to find out more dead bodies and search for survivors. China has sent a rescue team comprising of 15 members to Japan.
The Chinese International Search and Rescue Team reached the capital Tokyo by air. They have brought adequate equipment and relief material with them.
