(PRINTWORDS NEWS) The week 17 proved to be fruitful for the Seattle Seahawks as they are going to the playoffs as champions of the NFC West beating St. Louis Rams 16-6. Smart, accurate, mature and dedicated play of Seahawks made them where they stood last year.
“When it came down to it, the guys played a great football game tonight.”
Though it was not a very high scoring game, the Seahawks played well. The Seattle’s quarterback Charlie Whitehurst threw a 4-yard touchdown pass on Seattle’s first possession while Olindo Mare kicked three second-half field goals. In fact, Rams could not earn a single point in the first and fourth quarter.
Bradford was superb on the match. “I take a lot [of pride] in that,” Bradford said after the game, “Especially coming off the shoulder injury last year and knowing that there were a lot of questions about my durability, about my ability to take hits in this league.” The Seahawks will now face the New Orleans Saints in the first playoff game of 2011.
But Seattle Seahawks’ sneaking into the playoffs did not receive positive feedbacks from all quarters with some critics calling NFC West as NFC Worst. Seattle’s entry into the play-offs this season has reignited the debate whether division champions should automatically be granted home playoff games or not as the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Packers have better records at 10-6, but cannot enter into the playoffs.
