(PRINTWORDS NEWS) A devastating tornado pounded on Aumsville, Oregon on Tuesday noon. Jim Kusz, public information officer for the North Lincoln Fire and Rescue told, “Nobody was injured,”. But about fifty buildings were damaged.
Aumsville Police clerk Patti Etherington told it as ‘a mess’. It was an unexpected for Aumsville. There were rare examples of such phenomenon. But on Tuesday 3300 populated Aumsville experienced something diffrent from ordinary. When the Tornado touched down Aumsville, it severely damaged the city hall and other buildings.
Tornados are really unusual in western Oregon. A resident said”I have never seen anything like this.” But the wind uprooted the trees and knock the electricity down.
The weather was preparing for the twister. “Three things are required for a tornado,” said Kathie Dello, a research scientist with the Oregon Climate Service at Oregon State University.
We had all three happen (Tuesday),”. Unstable cold air slammed into an unseasonable warm, moist air mass that has lingered in the Willamette Valley for days.
Another concern has appeared as normally insurance company do not cover the loss of tornado. That is why a scam warning has been issued by the Better Business Bureau. “Consumers should be really wary about anybody who shows up on their front door,” said Kyle Kavas, spokeswoman for the BBB.
The Red Cross opened a shelter at the Mountain View Wesleyan Church, the only building left unaffected.
