(PRINTWORDS NEWS) Former world number one Tiger Woods marked the anniversary of his public apology for the tawdry tales of marital infidelity that marred his professional as well as personal lives, with a fine that was slammed on him for violating the European Tour‘s code of conduct.
The troubled golfer hogged the headlines for all the wrong reasons once again recently at the Dubai Desert Classic when he spitted after missing a putt on the 12th hole at the Emirates golf club.
Tiger Woods spitting act on the 12th hole during the final round of Sunday’s event, attracted the ire of golfing fans with the official website of the European Tour being flooded with complaint within no time.
If the golfing followers were left outraged by the ace golfer’s act of spitting on the greens, then the television commentators also did not waste any time in unleashing a renewed attack on Woods. Commentator Ewan Murray was one of the first to express his discontent with the golfing great and went on to say, “I’m bloody disgusted with what he’s just done there.”
The noted commentator further added that although Woods was an inspiration to many and was known for his work ethics, there are still some “parts of him that are just arrogant and petulant”.
Following the incident, officials of the European Tour also swung into action and found Woods guilty of violating the code of conduct, owing to which he would have to face a fine. A statement issued by the European Tour confirmed that the pro golfer would be fined for the act although the amount of the fine would not be revealed.
Woods was also prompt enough to issue an apology on Twitter where he added, “The Euro Tour is right— it was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better.
